MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) – A group that opposes gay marriage plans to hold a rally in Madison tomorrow.
The National Organization for Marriage says it will visit 23 cities in 19 states before it wraps things up with a rally in the nation’s capital on August 15th. The group promotes marriage as between a man and a woman.
Earlier this month, the Wisconsin Supreme Court refused to throw out the constitutional amendment against gay marriage and civil unions. But the state still allows gay couples to have about one-fifth of the legal benefits of married couples through its domestic partner registry.
Meanwhile, the pro-marriage group expects protestors in at least one city.
The Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays plans to hold a counter-demonstration the marriage group visits Saint Cloud Minnesota on Thursday.
