MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - A Milwaukee police officer on a bicycle patrol was injured when a car struck him and his partner fired a shot at the car as it fled. It happened about 10:30 last night on Milwaukee’s north side.
Lieutenant Thomas Welch said the two officers approached the auto as it was stopped on a road. The car then accelerated hit one of the officers and dragged him for a short way.
The second officer then shot at the car as it sped away. The vehicle was believed to be stolen, and it was found abandoned about six blocks from the shooting. The car driver was never found. The injured officer was taken to a hospital, and Welch said his injuries were not life-threatening.
