MIAMI (TSN-WSAU) Carlos Gomez singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and George Kottaras followed with a two-run homer in Milwaukee's 7-4 triumph over the Florida Marlins.
Yovani Gallardo (6-2) pitched seven strong innings and belted the tying homer in the seventh inning as the Brewers snapped a three-game skid. His six homers are the most in franchise history for a pitcher. Prince Fielder also went deep.
Gallardo allowed four hits and two runs -- one earned -- to win his sixth consecutive decision. He hasn't lost since April 10 against St. Louis.
Jorge Cantu drove in two runs for the Marlins, who had a three-game winning streak broken.
Chris Volstad started for the Marlins and gave up four hits and a run over 5 2/3 innings. Jorge Sosa (1-1) yielded three hits and three runs over 1 2/3 frames to suffer the loss.
Gallardo homered to left-center on an 0-1 pitch from Taylor Tankersley to start the seventh inning, tying the game at two.
Sosa walked Fielder to begin the next inning, but was erased on Casey McGehee's fielder's choice grounder. He moved to second on a groundout by Corey Hart, then scored on a soft liner to left-center by Gomez. After a stolen base, Kottaras then belted a pitch over the wall in right field, breaking his bat in the process.
"It felt good off the bat and I heard the bat explode," Kottaras said. "I look up and the ball's carrying."
Dan Uggla scored on a groundout by Ronny Paulino in the bottom of the eighth, but Fielder homered to right leading off the ninth against Brian Sanches. Craig Counsell singled in Gomez later in the inning.
"There were just too many (pitches) that were off and got me in predictable counts and they made me pay for it," Sanches said.
Hanley Ramirez doubled in Brett Carroll in the bottom half, but John Axford held on to record his third save as the Brewers grabbed the third installment of this four-game series.
Cantu's sacrifice fly scored Chris Coghlan in the first inning. Cantu made it 2-0 in the third with an RBI single, but the Marlins failed to add to their lead as Cody Ross fanned with the bases loaded.
Gomez singled to left to score McGehee in the sixth.
The Brewers and Marlins conclude their series Thursday night at 5:35pm.
