RIB MOUNTAIN, Wis (WSAU) The construction work at Rib Mountain State Park enters the next phase on Monday, when the main road leading into the park will close to traffic. Work crews are repaving and widening the road. They're also adding new sewer and water lines to the top of the park to improve the facilities there.

The park will remain open, but it will only be accessible on foot. Park-goers will also have to hike up the ski slope. The access road will be off-limits to pedestrians.

Hundreds of trees have already been cut down along the right-of-way. The new road will be wider, and will include a bike and walking lane when completed.
