KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (WTAQ) - A 14-year-old girl was killed Thursday night after she was hit by a car while walking along a highway in Kenosha County.

Authorities said the driver, a 42-year-old Silver Lake woman, had just crested a hill about 9 p.m. when she saw two girls in the way roadway. And she tried to avoid hitting them, but couldn’t.

Sheriff’s deputies said the victim was believed to be walking on the paved portion of the highway, and there was no sign that the driver was impaired. The incident remains under investigation.
