MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - A suburban Chicago man died early Sunday after he drove into another vehicle, hit a utility pole, and crashed into a building at UW-Madison. 51-year-old Darrell Pantazes of Skokie Illinois died a short time later at UW Hospital. University Police said they were trying to stop Pantazes for going the wrong way on a one-way street – but he refused to stop, and he drove down other streets the wrong way. After hitting the car and a light pole, police said the vehicle went airborne before hitting the campus building. A person in the struck vehicle was checked out at a hospital.
Meanwhile, Green County authorities said 21-year-old Dustin Halvorson of Brodhead drove his SUV into a tree on Saturday night about a half-mile west of Brodhead. A small fire started upon impact. Halvorson died at the scene.
