WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) The Wausau Board of Education is expecting a large turn-out for its Monday night meeting where a new contract will be voted on. The meeting’s been moved to South Mountain Elementary School. It starts at 7pm.
A week ago the school district and its teachers union reached a tentative contract settlement. The teachers union ratified the agreement last weekend. The school board’s vote Monday night is the final step in the approval process.
The terms of the contract have not been made public. The school board will debate the contract in closed session after its regular agenda items. Then the board will go back into public session for further consideration of the contract before taking a vote.
Teachers in the Wausau School District have been without a contract since last summer. The contract settlement was proposed by a state mediator.
