UNDATED (WSAU) A man prosecutors called one of Wisconsin’s most dangerous sex predators has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for raping a woman at a Minnesota church. 62-year-old Lindon Knutson received a higher sentence than what Minnesota guidelines recommend. He pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct for robbing and raping a 73-year-old woman who was cleaning the Crow River Lutheran Church near Belgrade in west central Minnesota last November.
Authorities said Knutson asked the woman for directions, and then demanded money and beat her. Knutson has a Bemidji Minnesota address, but he has spent much of the last three decades in Wisconsin prisons and mental institutions. Prosecutor Connie Crowell said the state should have never released Knutson last year from the Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison. She said the victim felt bad about lying to Knutson in God’s house about not having any money – but she needed it to buy Christmas presents.
