Authorities from the Explosives Ordinances Division were checking the Washington, D.C. set to make sure it was safe after they were alerted about a possible threat in the area.
But chaos ensued when one cop driving through the set was hit by the film's iconic yellow Bumblebee car, which was being used in a chase scene, according to Australia's Herald Sun.
The officer was reportedly taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A statement from a police spokesperson reads: ""The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the crash and filming of this movie on closed D.C. city streets has been suspended until safety procedures can be reviewed.""
It's the latest accident to happen on the project - movie extra Gabriela Cedillo was airlifted to hospital in Indiana after her skull was sliced open when a car stunt went wrong last month (01Sep10).
The 24 year old has been receiving treatment ever since and her family is taking legal action against film bosses over the incident.
