RHINELANDER, Wis. (WSAU) – A Mincoqua man accused of growing marijuana in a state forest Wednesday has been jailed on $20,000 cash bond.
Randall Handeland, 48, told a judge at his initial appearance Friday that he was in the area because he was a bear hunter and baiter.
But police say Handeland ran when agents raided the site.
“The facts in the complaint suggest you were at the scene of the grow operation and when approached by officers, when they yelled, the chase was on,” said Oneida County Judge Patrick O'Melia.
Handeland is charged with making and dealing more than 2,500 grams of marijuana.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 17th.
