An account in modern history that played the side story in Best Picture winner The King's Speech gets the spotlight in Madonna's second directorial project, W.E. Abbie Cornish stars as Wally Winthrop, a turn-of-the-21st-century woman who is fixated on the forbidden romance between England's King Edward VIII and the American divorcee Wallis Simpson in the 1930s. The film highlights both periods to express a timeless love story. James D'Arcy and Andrea Riseborough star as Edward and Simpson respectively. The film debuts December 9.
