FREDONIA, WI (WTAQ) - A family in the Village of Fredonia can thank their newspaper man for getting them out of a burning house.

Greg Riedel has delivered the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel for 15 years. He says he was driving down the street at about 4 a.m. Monday when he saw flames coming out of a house on his route. Riedel jumped out of his vehicle and started ringing the home’s doorbell.

Family members woke up and four of them managed to get outside without suffering any injuries.

Riedel finished delivering papers, then returned to the home to see the roof had fallen in.

His boss at the newspaper says he thinks Riedel is a hero. Riedel says he just hopes the family is able to get back on its feet.
