WASHINGTON, DC (WLMI) Senator Debbie Stabenow is introducing legislation offering rebates on electric cars, a move she hopes will get more electric vehicles on the road. Stabenow says the plan would be to give anyone purchasing an electric vehicle up to 75-hundred dollars off the price tag up front, a proposal of hers that President Obama mentioned in his State of the Union Address. She says the anticipated increase in battery-manufacturing for vehicles by way of stimulus funding for Michigan helps move toward the president's goal of putting one-million electric cars on the nation's roadways by 2015.
