Michigan’s Rally Against Third Ranked Kansas Ran Out Of Steam In Overtime

by

Michigan took its first lead of the game in overtime against third ranked Kansas but the visiting Jayhawks pulled away in the extra period for a 67-to-60 win over the Wolverines yesterday at Crisler Arena. Michigan trailed by 13 in the second half before its comeback that tied the game at 51 at the end of regulation play.

Zack Novak buried a deep three to begin the overtime for Michigan but Kansas answered quickly and Marcus Morris scored five of his game-high 22 points in the O-T to keep the Jayhawks undefeated at 15-and-0. The Wolverines, who have dropped 3 of 4 since a 7-game winning streak, are now 11-and-5.

Freshman Tim Hardaway Jr. led Michigan with 19 points while sophomore Darius Morris had 16. The Wolverine’s next game is Wednesday at home against second ranked Ohio State. The Buckeyes, who are 16-and-0, survived a scare at home yesterday with a 67-to-64 win over Minnesota.
