Malikah Shabazz was accused of defrauding the 70-year-old widow of one of her late father's bodyguards to make more than $55,000 (£34,375) in illegal credit card purchases.
In June (11) the 46 year old pleaded guilty to identity theft at New York's Queens Supreme Court and was ordered to repay almost $56,000 (£35,000) to credit card companies she defrauded using Khaula Bakr's identity.
On Thursday (28Jul11) Justice Fernando Camacho sentenced Shabazz to five years probation.
District Attorney Richard Brown says in a statement, ""The defendant, who preyed upon the trusting nature of a once close family friend, has admitted her guilt in committing a serious felony offence and will be ordered to make her victims financially whole.""
