UNDATED (WKZO) -- Michigan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in May inched up by one-tenth of a percentage point over April to 10.3%.
W. E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research economist George Erickcek says it happens this time every year, because its graduation season and there is a whole new army of job seekers jumping into the labor pool feet first.
He considers the more telling number the May rate, which is down 2.5% from the May 2010 rate of 12.8%.
The national unemployment rate for May was 9.1%.
