RIB MOUNTAIN, Wis (WSAU) Road work that's made it difficult to drive into Rib Mountain State Park is now complete. The D-N-R announced yesterday that the main road to the top of the mountain is open to traffic.
For most of last year the park was accessible only by foot. The road was widened and new water lines were put in under the roadway. There's also a new walking trail to separate pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
The road project was part of a series of improvements to the camping and parking area at the top of the mountain. There are new facilities near the park's welcome center. New signage will be installed by the Independence Day weekend.
