MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Remember those fake Democrats the GOP put up in this summer’s state Senate recall elections to give Republican incumbents an extra month to campaign? Well, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says he might pull that tactic again. Democrats announced today that they’ll try to recall Senate Republicans Pam Galloway, Van Wangaard, and Terry Moulton next spring. And if the Democrats only put up one candidate, there would no need for a primary – and the incumbents would risk losing their seats a month earlier than with a primary. Fitzgerald says he’ll wait until all the recall petitions are filed in January to decide on using fake Democrats – and to decide whether to try and recall some of the real Democrats. Fitzgerald also told reporters today he also expects to be a target of this winter’s recalls. And expects a lawsuit to be filed to try and get the GOP’s new Senate districts in place for the spring recalls. The Government Accountability Board says the old districts from 2000 must be used until the scheduled legislative elections next fall.
