MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin Republicans file a second lawsuit to have any Senate recall elections use the new districts the GOP drew up this summer. Eric McLeod, an attorney for the plantiffs, said the lawsuit was filed in Waukesha County Circuit Court. And he said the party was covering its bases to make sure it follows proper procedures. Earlier, the Republicans asked the State Supreme Court to require that the new districts be used for next spring’s Senate recall elections. The Waukesha County suit asks that a three-judge panel be appointed to hear the party’s request. Under the redistricting law passed this summer, the three-judge panels are supposed to consider challenges to the new boundaries. Democrats say the GOP is just trying to give itself an advantage by using the districts they drew with no Democratic input. But the Republicans say they’re already representing people in the new districts – and to use the old ones for recall elections would just confuse voters. As it stands now, the new lines
