White, who starred as beloved geek Steve Urkel on the popular 1990s family sitcom, has signed up to front Total Blackout.

The half-hour series, which is based on an international phenomenon, forces contestants to face their greatest fears in absolute darkness by completing a number of challenges.

He says, ""They're (contestants) basically limited to four of their (five) senses... The biggest surprise will be the contestants themselves - will they maintain their composure in the darkness or not because the darkness brings out something in all of us.""

Total Blackout will air on U.S. network Syfy next year (12).
