MADISON (WSAU) Wisconsin starting corner Devin Smith will miss an extended amount of time with an injured left foot suffered in Saturday's shutout of Oregon State. Coach Bret Bielema tweeted last night that the senior Smith will be out for awhile. Junior Marcus Cromartie is expected to start in his place. After Saturday’s game, Bielema said there was nothing broken. But Smith left Camp Randall Stadium on crutches on Saturday. Meanwhile, sophomore guard Travis Frederick is expected to return next weekend against Northern Illinois. He hurt a knee on September first against Nevada-Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, the Badgers moved up one place to seventh in the new Associated Press media poll announced yesterday. The Badgers also moved up one spot to eighth in the U-S-A Today-E-S-P-N coaches' poll. Wisconsin is 2-and-0 after blanking Oregon State 35-to-nothing on Saturday at home. Oklahoma remains Number-one in both surveys.
