WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) Have you ever wondered what it’s like to ride a motorcycle?
A specially-built motorcycle rider training unit is giving potential future riders a view over the handlebars. It’s called “The REF” and contains two Save Motorcyclist Awareness and Recognition Trainers… or “SMARTrainers.”
Wisconsin Department of Transportation spokesperson Julie Roth says these units are traffic simulators designed to give riders a real-world experience of riding motorcycles in traffic. There are also touch screen monitors incorporated into the units to test your knowledge of motorcycle safety.
The REF SMARTrainers are being featured as part of the Wisconsin Hog Rally at Harley Davidson of Wausau until six-o-clock.
