Kid Rock has come to the aid of an injured soldier, helping to set up the disabled veteran in a brand-new custom-designed home, reports The Macomb Daily . The singer was in Macomb Township, Michigan, Saturday to help surprise Sgt. Davin Dumar and his wife Dana with a mortgage-free 2,600-square-foot home.
Dumar lost a leg and suffered injuries to both hands in Afghanistan in 2011, and was just released from a military hospital on Friday. Rock joined Dumar's friends and family in surprising the couple. The singer told the stunned couple, “You are going to receive a fully-furnished home, top to bottom. Thank you for your service.”
Kid Rock has donated more than $400,000 to various efforts supporting U.S. troops over the past year. He teamed with Pulte Homes and Operation Finally Home, a non-profit that builds homes for disabled vets, to help Sgt. Dumar and his family. “I wanted to do something close to home,” the Detroit native said, adding, “My philosophy is, help your neighbor first.”
