INDIANAPOLIS, IND (WSAU) Big Ten Conference officials are worrying about a lot of empty seats for today’s title game between Nebraska and Wisconsin.
Thousands of tickets were still available as late as yesterday. It hasn’t been a good football season for the Big Ten. It only has four teams ranked in the Top-25 and the Badgers are in the championship game in Indianapolis with a mediocre 7-5 record.
That obscures the fact the Badgers also have the chance to be the first team in the conference to reach the Rose Bowl three straight years since Michigan in the late 1970s. Nebraska’s record is 10-2.
And, both universities are known for bringing large groups of fans on the road. It’s hoped there will be a lot of walk-up sales today because both of those universities returned some of their allotment of tickets and sales were behind last year’s levels.
