Records show police chief resigned because of sexual misconduct

OWEN, Wisc (WSAU) We now know the reasons why Owen's police chief resigned last month. An open record request from WAOW-TV shows that Randy Poirier was involved in sexual misconduct in public during the Indian Summer Festival last September. Several witnesses filed complaints that he had inappropriate sexual contact with a woman. In at least one incident a group of high school students were nearby.

During an investigation Piorier says the woman involved was not his wife, and they were both highly intoxicated at the time. Piorier also admitted that he drove home drunk the night of the incident.

Marshfield police were asked to investigate the case. No charges were filed.

Piorier took a two week leave of absence, and then resigned. Initially the cause of his stepping down was not made public.
