A little more is known now about the Monday shooting incident near Tomahawk.
Lincoln County deputies received a call Monday just before 4:00 o-clock from Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital. The hospital called to report they were treating a man with a gunshot wound, which they have to do by law. 66 year old Charles J. Lawn of Tomahawk had been brought there by private auto. He was transferred to Aspirus Wausau Hospital’s trauma unit. There, investigators learned the shooting took place in the Town of Somo off of Pine Tree Lane.
Lawn claims to have accidentally shot himself in the neck with a .22 long rifle while rabbit hunting with friends. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the DNR are continuing their investigation. No criminal charges are being sought at this time.
