STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) -  Many of you will be wearing your favorite Green Bay Packer’s jersey to work twice this week. Besides the common “casual Friday” dress code, you have today... a day set aside for number 12, Aaron Rodgers.

Jennifer Brilowski of Stevens Point started the 12-12-12 effort on Facebook.

She said it all began after a discussion last year with a couple of friends.  "Some friends and I were talking on 11-11-11, and we were discussing the superiority of the number 12, thanks to our quarterback, so, as a joke, I said I should just start a Facebook page for 12-12-12.  I did, and we just thought it was just going to be a little joke among friends.  It didn't turn out that way!"  Instead of a little joke, the effort caught on with over 15-thousand Packers fans, and when the Packers and the media got wind of it, the site went viral.

Brilowski took the Facebook page and turned it into a fundraiser for Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, known as the MACC Fund, which is one of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite charities. She then expanded it to serve another charity.  "Through the page, I also met Bo Johnson who had been helped by the MACC Fund.  Unfortunately, Bo passed away at the end of September at the age of 13.  Before he died, he set up the Go Bo Foundation, and he wanted to make a positive impact and leave behind a legacy, so I'm also helping spread awareness of his organization in his honor."

Brilowski later started an online store, where the profits go to the charities.  She says items sold on their online store has generated around $3,000 for the MACC Fund.  Brilowski doesn't have the figures raised for the GoBo Foundation, but expects a surge in sales today.

Brilowski is making the trip to Appleton today, where the Fox River Mall is hosting a special 12-12-12 event.  "The symphony will be playing in the food court a Packers and holiday themed concert.  I've been told to expect to hear Go Pack Go with tubas and violins, so it sounds kind of interesting.  They've asked me to come and speak, so I'm trekking over to check it out."  She will be reading the Legislature’s proclamation of today being 12-12-12 day in honor of Aaron Rodgers.

Once 12-12-12 is history, Brilowski says the Facebook page will stay active and the online store will continue to raise funds for the two charities.  "It's a fan page for Aaron Rodgers, and that's wonderful.  He's absolutely worth it because of the person he is, but it's also become a fan community, and it's become a positive place for Packers fans to gather and cheer on their team without worrying about the haters and the negativity and some of the hostility that comes on some other online communities."
