STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team lost to conference rival UW-Whitewater Wednesday night, 58-55.  The Warhawks led by as many as 10 points in the first half and UWSP trailed 30-24 at the break, its largest halftime deficit of the season. After the break, the Pointers chipped away to regain the  lead at 32-30 as Taylor Bahr (Caledonia, WI/Shoreland Lutheran) rolled in a layup just over three minutes into the second half.   The Pointers built their lead to as high as eight before the Warhawks went on a 12-4 run to knot the game at 44 with just under eight minutes remaining. The Warhawks never trailed again and led by as many as nine points. Sam Barber (Schofield, WI/D.C. Everest/Winona St.) missed a half-court heave at the buzzer  which would have sent the game into overtime. Myranda Tyler (Grafton, WI/Grafton) led all scorers with a season-high 17 points while grabbing seven rebounds. Barber chipped in 10 points with a game-high nine rebounds. Courtney Kumerow led the way for the Warhawks with 12 points and eight rebounds. Wednesday's loss marks the Pointers' first home loss since March 11, 2011, when they hosted George Fox in the NCAA tournament. UWSP returns to action Saturday, Dec. 15, as it hosts the defending national champions, Illinois Wesleyan. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
