New Kwik Trip open in Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) -  A Wisconsin based convenience store chain is continuing to grow. Kwik Trip opened a new location in Stevens Point yesterday. The new store at Division Street and Maria Drive replaces a smaller and older facility a few blocks north.

Store leader Jim Lienlokken says the new site has safer, better access than the old site.  "There's stop lights on both side streets, so there will be a lot easier access and leaving as well.  We've got semi access now which we didn't have before, so it should be great all the way around."

With northside businesses and many school campuses nearby, Lienlokken says the new location will probably boost sales.  "Our hot food sales are really going to be great here.  We're right next to the university, close to Pacelli, not too far away from SPASH, so we're really looking forward to pizzas, pizzas, and more pizzas."

Employees were stocking the new store as a steady stream of customers stopped in Thursday. Lienlokken says to expect the official grand opening and some specials coming up soon. "Our actual grand opening ad starts on the 15th, so we're going to have lots of things like cheeseburgers on sale, slices on pizza for 99 cents, and a bunch of other great items, too."

Kwik Trip has acquired land elsewhere in Stevens Point for another future store. Lienlokken says the other new Stevens Point location at I-39 and Highway 10 east is still in the planning stages, and probably won't open until 2014.  The chain also has nearby stores on Stanley Street in Stevens Point and on Post Road in Plover.

Lienlokken says this new location also gave them room for something they didn’t have at the old location... a car wash.

Kwik Trip operates convenience stores in several states, and is based in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
