The final three acts competing to become this season’s X Factor champion will be Fifth Harmony , Tate Stevens and Carly Rose Sonenclar .
The results were announced during Thursday’s edition of the Fox show, and were determined by America’s votes. Emblem3 , representing Simon Cowell ’s groups category, failed to secure enough votes to advance.
Here's a closer look at the finalists:
-- Fifth Harmony is mentored by Simon Cowell and was assembled at the end of Boot Camp by The X Factor producers. The so-called “fearsome fivesome” features Dinah Jane Hansen , 15, Lauren Jauregui , 16, Ally Brooke , 19, Normani Hamilton , 16, and Camila Cabello , 15.
-- Tate Stevens is a 37-year-old country music singer and a former member of the Dixie Cadillacs . He’s mentored in the Over 25’s category by L.A. Reid .
-- Thirteen-year-old Carly Rose Sonenclar, who is one of Britney Spears ' Teens, appeared in a Broadway production of Les Miserables .
There was a special performance by Bruno Mars , who did his single “Locked Out of Heaven.” Former Disney star Bridgit Mendler sang her single “Ready or Not.”
The final four season-two acts also performed. The entire ensemble sang “Coming Home,” by Diddy-Dirty Money featuring Skylar Grey .
L.A. made no mention of the story that broke earlier on Wednesday, that he will step down as judge at the end of this season. According to The Hollywood Reporter , the executive will be concentrating on his job as Epic Records chairman.
The X Factor 's two-part finale will begin with a live performance show Wednesday on Fox at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
