GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) The Green Bay Packers had three players named last night to the N-F-C team for the Pro Bowl. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was picked as a starter for his conference, while center Jeff Saturday and linebacker Clay Matthews were listed as reserves.

A year ago, Green Bay had seven Pro Bowl picks – but that team didn’t have the extensive injuries that this year’s team has been facing. Packers’ Randall Cobb and guard Josh Sitton were named as first alternates – which means they could make it to Hawaii as injury replacements.

Rodgers, the league M-V-P a year ago, is heading to his third Pro Bowl after throwing for 39-hundred-30 yards and 35 touchdowns in 15 games with just eight interceptions. His passer rating is 106-point-two – 16 points lower than his record rating in his M-V-P season of 2011.

Matthews was the first Packer to get a Pro Bowl nod in each of his first four seasons in the league. He has a dozen sacks this season.

Saturday’s selection appears to be more of a lifetime achievement award. He was replaced at center last week by Evan Dietrich-Smith – but he’s wrapping up a possible Hall-of-Fame career which netted him five Pro Bowls with Indianapolis.

The Pro Bowl will be played January 27th in Honolulu. Those who play in the Super Bowl a week later will not be in Hawaii.
