HUDSON, WI (WSAU) -  A 48-year-old Wisconsin woman is dead after jumping to her death from the I-94 St. Croix River bridge at Hudson this morning. Witnesses say the woman stopped her car on the freeway at 8:29 a.m. about 100 yards west of the Wisconsin shoreline, climbed over the rail, and jumped. The woman’s 11-year-old daughter was left inside the car.

St. Croix County Wisconsin and Washington County Minnesota authorities recovered the woman’s body from the ice-covered river using an airboat. The woman’s name is being withheld until relatives are notified. The 11-year-old is now with other family members.

Sheriff John Shilts says the woman is from Pierce County, Wisconsin.
