WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Marathon County is asking taxpayers how the county should spend its money over the next five years.

About 1,100 households have until Friday to take a survey that asks them which service areas are most important. The survey covers everything from spending on health services to public safety and economic development.

“We have to engage the people that are paying the bills,” said Joanne Leonard, a county board supervisor who serves on a strategic planning task force.

The survey is one part of the county's effort to update its strategic plan. The task force has also held focus groups with county board members and other residents.

A draft of the strategic plan should be done this spring.
