HUDSON, WI (WTAQ) - Two boys from New Richmond were killed, and two others were injured, when their SUV rear-ended a semi-truck.

It happened around 1:20 p.m. Monday on Interstate 94 near Hudson, about six miles east of the Wisconsin-Minnesota border.

The State Patrol said the truck was stopped in heavy traffic when it was hit by the SUV. Two passengers, ages 16 and 17, were killed.

The 17-year-old driver was in critical condition at last word at a hospital in St. Paul Minnesota. Officials said the other passenger, a 17-year-old boy, had minor injuries.

The semi driver, a 34-year-old Cadott man, was not hurt.

The crash closed the eastbound lanes of 94 near Hudson for two hours. The accident is still under investigation.
