WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Wausau police say they have a suspect in custody for the La Quinta Inn robbery this afternoon.

Wausau patrol lieutenant Matt Barnes says the suspect was identified after police passed out his image to the media. The 16-year-old suspect held up the La Quinta Inn around 1:30 today and then ran to the nearby Days Inn to hide.

Since the suspect is a juvenile, police are not releasing his name but Barnes says he is in custody and secured. “It's a different process for juveniles and he'll be going through a process with social services.”

Barnes says several other people who were with the suspect in the hotel have been arrested for various charges. “One's on a probation hold and the other had an outstanding warrant.” All were found with either drugs or drug paraphernalia.

Barnes says there's no further danger to the public.  "It's an isolated incident of a juvenile male who made a bad decision."
