STEVENS POINT, Wis (WSAU) Dozens of Stevens Point residents have been complaining about cloudy drinking water. The water out of the tap has appeared grey with some black sediment in it.
The water is safe to drink. The problem is a build-up of manganese, which is a naturally occurring substance that's not harmful to humans. The water department says they're working to get the levels back to normal. Anyone with questions can call them at 715 345-5260.
You may not want to do laundry until the problem clears up. Manganese can stain clothes, particularly whites.
