During his March 1 appearance on The Ellen Show, Justin Bieber received a rather extraordinary birthday gift from his manager: a brand new car. But not just any car, an eco-friendly sportscar known as a Fisker Karma and valued around $102,000. Not a bad deal for turning 18, although a gift like that kind of dwarfs earning the right to vote.
This particular car is one of the rarest, environmentally-friendly cars in the world. It contains an ""Eco-Chic"" interior, which uses no animal products of any kind and features wood found from renewable resources like bamboo and logs salvaged from forest fires. In other words, it's extremely helpful to the environment compared to your average pollution-heavy vehicle.
However, it's insanely expensive, which explains why very few people own one. It's even rare among celebrity circles. Other than Bieber, actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Ashton Kutcher can also be seen cruising around in their go-green hot rods.
DiCaprio has earned a reputation as a noted environmental activist and philanthropist. In fact, in 2010 he donated more than $1 million to the Wildlife Conservation Society. And as for Kutcher, he's equally as vocal about the importance of being ""green,"" and has previously owned several Lexus hybrid sedans and a Prius.
It's just hard to believe something so attractive can be so good for the environment...and the cars aren't too bad either.
