ANTIGO, Wis. (WSAU) – The Langlade County sheriff’s office has identified the two people killed and five others hurt in a crash on Highway 64 near Antigo last night.
The crash happened when a car going northbound did not stop for a stop sign on Highway 64 and was hit by a van.
The driver of the car, 18-year-old Jeffrey Smith, was thrown from the car and died at the scene. Another passenger, 18-year-old Jacob Arrowood, was also thrown from the car and died at the scene.
Three others in the car, 18-year-olds Dillon Sus and Dustin Bricko and 17-year-old Matthew Waldner, were hospitalized with injuries. Sus and Bricko were med flighted to Aspirus Wausau Hospital and are listed in critical condition.
The driver of the van, 65-year-old Norman Hanus and his 9-year-old grandson Nathan Hangartner, were taken to Langlade Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
