MADISON, WI (WSAU) George Marshall made a strong case yesterday for becoming the new Wisconsin men’s basketball point guard. Marshall had 14 points and two assists in the Badgers’ annual Red-and-White scrimmage. He played for the Red team, which beat the White squad 78-to-61.
Marshall also made 4-of-5 from three-point range. Badgers’ coach Bo Ryan has not named his starting point guard yet – but Marshall says he’s ready for the job.
Josh Gasser was expected to start at the point, but he’s out for the year after tearing an A-C-L knee ligament at practice more than a week ago.
The Badgers will play a home exhibition on Wednesday night against U-W Oshkosh. Wisconsin will open its regular season on Sunday at home against Southeast Louisiana.
