MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - The Marshfield man accused of threatening to burn a pregnant woman after pouring gas on her will be in court Monday.
23-year-old Tyler Scott Ress faces a total of eleven felony charges. Marshfield Police investigators recommended 14 charges at the conclusion of their investigation October 11th.
Police say Ress tried to kill Carrie Lynn Mayhone by assaulting and strangling her while confining her. Along with the threat of burning Mayhone after soaking her in gasoline, Ress is also accused of punching the victim in the abdomen in an attempt to harm the unborn baby. This allegedly occurred during a September 29th domestic incident.
Ress is scheduled to make an initial appearance on the eleven new charges at 9:00 a.m. before judge Todd Wolf.
This is not Tyler Ress’ first run-in with the law for domestic abuse. In August, he was released from Marathon County’s jail after serving 71 days for violating a court order that included a firearms restriction.
