UNDATED (WSAU) You’ve already cleaned up the leaves, the kids toys, and put away the lawnmower. All that’s left is to take down all of those political yard signs!
You can put up signs in your private yard for as long as you want... but there are places where campaign signs have to come down quickly. Signs next to highways and signs next to campaign offices in most instances must be removed within seven days after the election.
The large plywood signs are recycled by the political parties with new paint and names each election, so they usually collect them and the fence posts quickly to save money next time around. County highway departments often pick up signs, but be prepared if you go recover them. You will probably be reminded that the signs weren’t supposed to be in the road right-of-way in the first place.
