Funeral for three Racine children killed in house fire set for Friday

RACINE, WI (WTAQ) - Funeral services will be held Friday in Racine for three children who died in a house fire.

Eight-year-old Dalijah Scott and her 9-year-old sister Dayja were killed when their house started on fire last Thursday. Their 7-year-old brother Michael Scott died later at a Racine hospital – and their 5-year-old brother Luther was hospitalized in critical condition as of Sunday night.

The Racine community has been extremely generous in helping a family that’s in need. WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee said the cost of the funerals is being picked up by Reid’s New Golden Gate Funeral Home in Racine, where visitations will take place on Thursday.

A church donated cemetery plots – and the children’s grandmother, Shirrly Scott, said the generosity has allowed her to keep her surviving relatives mentally strong.

The funeral are set for 11 a.m. Friday at the Greater Mount Eagle Baptist Church.
