GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) Green Bay Packers’ tight end Ryan Taylor has been fined 21-thousand-dollars by the N-F-L for an illegal blindside block on Rashad Johnson of Arizona. It happened during a punt return in the Packers’ 14-point win over the Cardinals 10 days ago.
Johnson was close to tackling punt returner Randall Cobb – but he didn’t see Taylor drive hard from the left. Johnson was knocked to the turf, and he stayed there for a few minutes before walking off.
The fine to Taylor represents almost five-percent of his base salary of 465-thousand dollars this season. And it’s the biggest fine against a Packers’ player this season. Linebacker Nick Perry was fined 15-thousand-dollars for a hard hit on Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck in early October.
Meanwhile, the Packers return to practice today, as they get ready to face the Lions in Detroit on Sunday. It’s the first of five N-F-C North contests for Green Bay in the final seven weeks of the regular season.
