Phillips Looks To Improve In Second Start

MADISON, WI (WSAU) Senior quarterback Curt Phillips will make only his second career start on Saturday, when the Wisconsin Badgers host Ohio State. Phillips suffered through three A-C-L knee injuries during his time in Madison – and he only attempted seven passes in the Badgers’ rout at Indiana last week. Wisconsin set a school-record with 564 rushing yards – and with that part of the game clicking, offensive coordinator Matt Canada said Phillips didn’t need to throw very much.

But Canada says it will probably be a different story on Saturday against the undefeated Buckeyes. He says it’s fortunate that Phillips is throwing the ball as well as he’s ever been – even though he expects Phillips to say he’s not the same player he was before his knee injuries.

Phillips says his goal is to eliminate the types of small mistakes he made against Indiana. Wisconsin has already won a spot in the Big Ten title game in just over two weeks.

Ohio State comes in at 10-and-0, and 6-and-0 in the Big Ten. The Badgers are 7-and-3, and 4-and-2 in conference play.
