BRAINERD, MN (WSAU) - Wausau Paper is making changes at it’s Brainerd Minnesota mill. The Mosinee based company will end production of print papers at that location. Seven salaried employees and 48 hourly employees will be laid off, with most of the layoffs happening by the end of the year. Some staff will stay on until next July.
The mill just completed a 27-million dollar retooling to make technical and specialty grades of paper last year. This mill will not be closing, but it will eliminate production of this product line. Wausau Paper currently has 137 hourly and 34 salary workers in Brainerd.
