SPRING VALLEY, WI (WTAQ) - The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department reports a nine year old boy is in the hospital after he was shot in the leg.

The accident happened at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Spring Valley.

Witnesses say the boy’s 11 year old brother was unloading a handgun when it accidentally went off.

The boy was airlifted to Regions Hospital, but his condition hasn’t been released.

The sheriff’s department says it is still investigating the case.
