As previously reported, Rihanna may be celebrating her first-ever #1 album with Apologetic, but a few other people had a good week on the Billboard album chart as well.
American Idol champ Phillip Phillips ' debut disc The World from the Side of the Moon enters the chart at #4, with first-week sales of 169,000 copies. While that's not quite as good as season 10 champ Scotty McCreery 's first album, which debuted at #1 last October, it's much better than the first albums from season 9 and season 8 champs Lee Dewyze and Kris Allen did. Those albums entered the chart at #19 and #11 respectively.
Kid Rock 's new album Rebel Soul enters the chart at #5, becoming his seventh top 10 album. His last album, 2010's Born Free , also debuted at #5.
In addition to Rihanna, the big story this week is Pink , whose album The Truth About Love has jumped back into the top 10 on a sales increase of 334 percent. Why? Two reasons: first, sales came as a reaction to her show-stopping performance of "Try" on the American Music Awards. Second, the album was sale priced at several major retailers last week for a few days.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift 's Red holds steady at #2, and last week's #1, One Direction 's Take Me Home, slides to #3.
Original American Idol champ Kelly Clarkson debuts at #11 with Greatest Hits -- Chapter 1 . Pitbull 's new album Global Warming comes in at #14. And it's bad news for Christina Aguilera , whose new album Lotus dropped from #7 to #17, experiencing a 28 percent sales decrease.
