MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - A Marshfield man is in custody after attempting to kill his girlfriend and her unborn child. Police Chief Gary Jepson released the details of the Saturday attack late yesterday.
Jepson says the man and woman were in a three hour long domestic dispute, where he confined her, assaulted her, attempted to strangle her, and poured gasoline on her threatening to burn her and her unborn child.
Chief Jepson says the 23-year-old suspect is presently in the Wood County Jail on a probation hold. He did have heroin in his possession when arrested. The man’s name is being withheld until formal charges are filed.
The 28-year-old woman has undergone a health evaluation by a doctor. There’s no public report on the condition of the woman and the unborn child.
