RIB MOUNTAIN, Wis. (WSAU) - Runners looking for a major challenge will find it this weekend at Rib Mountain with the annual Wausau Rotary WRUT'n Run.
It's a series of races up and down the side of the Granite Peak Ski Park. Organizer Bill Scholfield says this sort of event caters to a different crowd than the usual marathon runs across the area. "Not only do you get the challenge of the hill and the rougher terrain, but you get gorgeous views of the area."
There's a series of races, with the main event being the solo and team Wausau Rotary Ultra Trek, a 2 mile course up and down the side of the mountain. Teams and individuals will have the afternoon to complete as many circuits as they can with. There's also a pair of 5K runs with varying difficulties and a early morning kids fun run.
Registration continues this evening at Noodles and Company in Wausau and at the race site in the morning. You can find more info online at http://wausaurotary.org
