UNDATED, WI (WTAQ) - A new poll shows that Republican Tommy Thompson has gained enough support to return to a statistical dead heat in the race for Wisconsin’s open U.S. Senate seat.
The Public Policy Polling firm said today that Democrat Tammy Baldwin leads Thompson by three-percentage points at 49-46 – just barely within the poll’s three-point-one percent margin-of-error.
The poll showed that 43-percent had a favorable opinion of former Governor Thompson, while 44-percent had a favorable opinion of House Democrat Baldwin.
Independents favor Baldwin 52-to-40 percent.
The last Marquette poll almost a week ago gave Baldwin a four-point lead over Thompson, 48-44.
